"And you've got to stop calling each other sluts and whores! It just makes it okay for guys to call you that."
-Tina Fey, "Mean Girls"
So often I see and hear girls putting other girls down and treating them like absolute dirt.
I know I am not alone in witnessing these instances; many of them brought about by nothing more than pure jealousy.
How completely and totally gross is that?
I am willing to admit that I have been guilty of this myself, even with my close friends.
How is it that small, insignificant little things can turn into some sort of competition?
We get jealous of another girl's beauty or that girl's talents, and then we call out their "faults" to anyone who is listening.
I'm willing to bet that when we do this, more often than not, the people around us just wish we would shut up.
So here is where I make my change, and I invite you to join me.
Right here, right now is where I "shut up."
I want to celebrate you.
You, your mother, your sisters, your grandma, your best friends!
I just want to celebrate each other.
We are women, and as women, we have such a unique and special bond rooted deep within our hearts.
Can we just get back to those roots?
We are all so, so beautiful.
But so often we can spend so much time being ugly to each other that we forget that.
Each week, I want to take some time to celebrate a special girl out there.
This will start tomorrow with the cute lady I already have in mind.
From here on out I will do this each week.
If you ever have a particular person in mind that you'd like to have celebrated let me know!
