6/52.

Tatum: A girl and her dad...She loves this guy. Obviously, it's mutual.

"Daaad!"

I was beyond excited to capture this moment. Whenever Josh gets home, from anywhere, even if it's just been a few minutes...Tatum is ridiculously happy.

"Daaad! DAAAAD!" (She is actually shouting this in that bottom photo.)

I just happened to have my camera out, trying to take a few fun little pictures of our afternoon, and I got really lucky. Really.

I'm so happy to have this memory saved in photo form.

a match made in heaven.

The piano that came with the apartment has been getting lots of use. Josh enjoys playing...He's been trying to perfect Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles." He's getting there. Every single time he goes to play, Tatum runs over and will stand next to him, grunting, until he picks her up to sit next to him on the bench. She likes to help him play, of course.

It's things like this that really just make my heart so full.
Seeing the two of them together, so happy...it just doesn't get any better, ya know?

Before Tatum was born, I wondered, What kind of dad will Josh be?

The other night, after she had been in bed for a couple of hours, we were looking at some pictures of her. He said, "Sometimes I  see a picture of her, like this one, and it just makes me want to get her up out of bed and play with her."

And there, I have my answer: the best kind.

zoo day.

For Tatum's 6 month birthday we went to the zoo.
It was her very first time there, and to say that she didn't care is basically the biggest understatement of all time.
That's okay, though! Josh and I still had lots of fun.

My absolute favorite part was seeing the tamarins! I've seen them at zoos before, but never really noticed how adorable they are. In fact, when we were looking at them, I actually said, "You are the cutest things of all time!" And then, I looked down at Tatum and said, "Besides you, obviously."
But seriously...tamarins.

Oh, wait. Change of heart! I really loved the tamarins, but right after I typed that out, I remembered the giraffes. That was actually the best. For real the best. We bought some crackers to feed them, and that was super neat because Tatum got to feed one! Doesn't she look cute doing it? (Minus that whole tongue deal we've got going on these days. Maybe she was trying to be like her little {ha} giraffe friend.)

The worst parts of the zoo were the alligators and giant nasty koi fish (at least, I think they were koi?). You can see pictures of both of my traumatic experiences above. For starters, the alligators: They wouldn't have been so bad, except they were fighting over a dead white rabbit. Enough said. Secondly: Giant. Nasty. Fish. They have disgusting mouths. One had a wonky eye. Shudder.

Before we left we stopped by the gift shop to get something for Tatum as a keepsake. Turns out, the kid loves zoo memorabilia. Everything we showed her was hilarious. It was non-stop laughter the whole ten minutes we were in there. We decided on a monkey hand puppet. She still thinks he's funny, so that's good.

I miss the tamarins and their weird little faces.
Good thing we're going back in a few weeks when family visits!

P.S. That picture of T and Josh is my new favorite ever.

like father, like daughter.

These two...They're basically best friends and it's awesome.
Yesterday morning, on our flight home from San Francisco Josh was sleeping, and I was holding Tatum, and she kept looking over at him, and when she did she would just get the biggest smile on her face. She loves him! But I mean...duh.

Something we always hear is how much she looks like me. And she definitely does. But she's also starting to look a lot like Josh. (Not current Josh, baby Josh.) See for yourself:

Can you see it? I totally can. It's adorable. : )

the best valentine.

{BFFs.}
(this picture is old. she was tiny, sigh.)

Josh got me some pretty sweet gifts for Valentine's Day, but I'm pretty sure Tatum got the best of all. He got her the cutest card with a heart shaped pizza on the front and wrote her the following letter:

Tatum, You're so beautiful.
I can't imagine not having you.
You make me so happy and I love you so much.
I can't wait to see you grow up.
You're my perfect little daughter.
I love you.

I'm definitely saving this for her. She'll love it someday.

Tatum is so lucky to have him for a Dad.
And I think we're pretty lucky to have her for our daughter.

For Anyone Who Likes Cute Babies...

This post is for you.

So far, San Francisco has been great. We haven't done anything "touristy" yet, and that stuff will probably be kept to a minimum this time, since we did some of it last year. Our big plans for this time around are to go to Alcatraz (beyond excited!) and to the Walt Disney Family Museum (beyond excited again!).
Basically we've just done some shopping + eating. Which I'm totally fine with. Because I love both of those things. : )
